Shoe sizes and widths

How to determine your shoe size

Stand on a sheet of paper in your socks. Trace the outlines of both feet. Measure the distance from the tip of the foot to the heel in cm. The measured foot length is your order size.

Shoe width:

Not only is the right shoe size crucial for perfect comfort, but also the right shoe width. At MADELEINE, you will find the specific foot width directly on the product page of the respective shoe. If no specific width is indicated, the shoes correspond to shoe width F.

What do the shoe widths F, G and H mean?

  • Shoe width F: this width is suitable for normal to slender feet. It is the most common shoe width for women.

  • Shoe width G: this comfort width offers a little more space in the forefoot area and is suitable for normal width feet. It ensures greater comfort of movement in the ball and instep area.

  • Shoe width H: this width is designed for larger feet and offers more volume and a wider tread area for added comfort.

How is the shoe width measured?

The shoe width indicates the volume of the shoe in the forefoot area, i.e. between the ball of the big toe and the ball of the little toe. To determine the width, place a tape measure around the widest part of the ball of your foot. For a size 37 EU, the ball circumference is about 22 cm (approx. UK size 4 / 8.7 inches), increasing by 0.4 cm (approx. 0.16 inches) for each larger shoe size. For example, size 41 EU = approx. 23.6 cm (approx. UK size 7 / 9.3 inches).
